Our history ....In the early 1960's women were denied membership in their local real estate boards. In 1961, six businesswomen founded Women In Real Estate, creating a forum for women to network with each other in brokerage, appraisal, law and other real estate specialties. Women were invited to come together from across the city and suburbs to share ideas, knowledge and experience. Their mission statement: "To promote professional improvement; to form valuable business contacts, to further the recognition of women in the real estate industry and allied fields as honorable, dignified and competent professionals; to be of helpful service to its members; to create an atmosphere of easy cordiality and friendly cooperation for members to enjoy and from which to profit.

Today, gender is no longer an issue at our local real estate boards. But, forty years later, Women in Real Estate, and its networking forum, continues its mission.

Today's focus: As a member of Women In Real Estate you will reap great benefits: our camaraderie, our encouragement, our experience and our support. Individually and collectively we have much to share with you, and we invite you to share your talents with us. We proudly represent this organization as women, professionals, working together for the good of all. In all areas of the real estate profession we strive to excel.

Meetings are held in locations across the city and suburbs on the third Tuesday of each month September thru May. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 with a short business meeting and program thereafter.
