The Internet is a connection of networks throughout the world. All the computers connected to the Internet make use of a common way of passing data backwards and forwards. This data travels across ordinary communication lines making it very easy for individuals and organizations to connect to the Internet.  Did you know that no one organization controls the internet? The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international industry consortium which both develops and promotes standard technologies for the Web. See: www.w3c.org. and learn more about this organization.

Since no one owns the Internet, everyone can do almost exactly what they please, which means information can be accurate and current or out of date and untrue.

When searching this great information highway, a wave of frustration can quickly come over us when we spend hours trying to find information.  I have talked about www.Yahoo.com ,

www.AltaVista.com , www.Askjeeves.com and

www.Google.com, all search engines to help you find information. Have you heard of a multi-search engine? Just as the name implies, it is an engine that searches across multiple search engines. If you have searched online, your results often includes the same site mentioned many times.  Using a multi-search engine can eliminate this repetition. Here are two sites to visit and try out the next time you are searching for information.  www.metaplus.com  www.isleuth.com .
